About Us

Providing help and support for businesses based in the Ards and North Down Borough.

Welcome to the Ards and North Down Economic Development team!

We are dedicated to supporting the economic well-being and growth of the Borough to enhance its potential as a place to work, visit, and invest. Our office is located at the Signal Centre, Innotec Drive, just off Balloo Road in Bangor.

Our team is led by Alison Stobie, who acts as the Head of Economic Development, ensuring we foster an environment where businesses can set up, grow, and thrive.

Our Team’s Focus

Our focus is to drive business success through economic growth across Ards and North Down. We work through a collaborative and integrated approach, offering a range of business support programmes and initiatives, including one-on-one mentoring, aimed at driving sustainable economic development.

Our Strategy

The Integrated Strategy for Tourism, Regeneration and Economic Development presents a coherent vision for the pursuit of prosperity in the Borough. It responds to the vision and outcomes of the Community Plan for the area and is to be used as the common point of reference for all those contributing to the growth of our economy, the welcoming of visitors and the improvement of our places, both urban and rural.

The strategy is built on an evidence base that identifies the key assets of the Borough, as well as economic and environmental challenges faced at local and regional level. While uncertainties continue in the wider political and economic context, this strategy presents a confident and ambitious plan for the future.

About Ards and North Down Labour Market Partnership

What is Ards and North Down Labour Market Partnership?

Ards and North Down established its Labour Market Partnership in August 2021 when the Department for Communities (one of the Department’s within the Northern Ireland Executive) made funding available for the establishment of Labour Market Partnerships (LMP) within each of the 11 Councils in Northern Ireland.

The aim of Ards and North Down Labour Market Partnership is to help improve employability outcomes and labour market conditions locally.  The LMP will work through co-ordinated, collaborative, multi-agency partnerships to meet their regional objectives whilst being flexible to meet the needs presented by localised conditions and helping to connect employers with employees.
